For Dr. John Young, being a dentist is not just about providing fantastic care. It’s also about building long-lasting relationships with patients based on trust and kindness. With his 15+ years of experience and gentle touch, you can expect to have positive visits at his Bellingham dental office, no matter what you need. His goal is to help people maintain their quality of life, or whenever needed, restore that quality so they have healthier, more comfortable days ahead.
Why I Became a Dentist
“I knew early on that I could make my hands do what my mind wanted. And I also knew that I wanted a career in healthcare and the long-term relationships that dentistry would provide. As the pieces of what I wanted in a career fell together, dentistry became the clear choice!”
My Educational Background
After high school, Dr. Young received his Bachelor of Arts from Brigham Young University. There, he graduated in the honors program with degrees in Microbiology and English. He would eventually go on to live and work for a year in England as a technician in a dental lab.
After leaving England, he enrolled at the University of Washington to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He then completed a one-year residency in General Hospital Dentistry at Mercy Medical Center in Canton, OH.
To this day, he is a member of the Washington State Dental Association and American Dental Association. He has also been part of the local R.L. Bruna Dental Study Club for over 15 years and served as a trainer and educator for the dental implant company, Neoss.
My Life Outside the Practice
When he’s not taking care of patients, you’ll find Dr. Young spending time with his lovely wife, Misha, and their three beautiful sons. He and his wife have become regular volunteers with the Great Shape Dental missions (in fact, this is partly where he and Dr. Montileaux met). He loves staying active and carries a passion for adventure, which is why he enjoys spending time in the great outdoors. He likes long saltwater kayaking excursions, extended backpacking in the Cascade and Rocky Mountains, canoe trips, and more. Recently, he’s picked up kiteboarding!
